There are several changes made to Test Center operations during Finals Week. Please read through the information below to be prepared for those changes.

  • Limited appointments are available in Carver 0250 – No rescheduling or canceling appointments during finals week.
  • Walk-in service is used in all locations, except Carver 0250.  This means you just need to show up to a Test Center location, scan the QR code to register, and join the virtual queue.
  • Please only bring the items you need for your exam to speed up the check-in process.
  • Test at off-peak times:  Mornings (before 11am) and evenings (after 7pm) are generally less busy.
  • Test at less crowded locations such Durham 139, Gilman 2552 or Gilman 2272.
  • Get a jump start on your break!  Take advantage of weekend testing (exam dependent).
  • Brief waits are likely at popular locations during peak times, especially at Carver 0060.

  • Appointments (Carver 0250 Only): arrive up to 10 minutes before your time. Appointments cannot be rescheduled or canceled during finals week. The process to schedule an appointment has not changed and must be completed via RegisterBlast in Canvas.
  • Walk-ins (all locations, except Carver 0250): Test Center locations will have registration kiosks and QR codes that must be used when you arrive to be added to the virtual queue.
    • Once in the queue you will be assigned a position number that will change as people enter to test.
    • There will be numbers on the wall that correspond with the position number in the virtual queue.  Once you get to position 15 on the virtual queue (or earlier during off-peak times) stand under that number until you can enter the test center for your exam.

  • Have your University ID card or other accepted photo identification out and ready.
  • Power down all electronic devices & remove watches.
  • Tell the proctor the exam you are taking.
  • Present any allowed materials (notes, calculators, etc.) for inspection.
  • You will be provided with a clipboard with scratch paper and colored cards before you are seated.
  • Proctors will assist you in finding a seat.
  • Place your ID and the colored cards in the proper holders on the monitor of your terminal.

Take a deep breath before beginning to center yourself. You’ve got this!

Should you need assistance during your testing session, raise your hand to alert a proctor.  This includes for any hardware of software problems or distractions that affect your ability to take your assessment.  If your terminal displays an error message, please DO NOT remove the message.

Do your best – proctors are unable to answer inquiries regarding specific questions on your assessment but can send technical reports to your faculty if there are questions about exam setup.

  • When completed, log out and restart the testing terminal.
  • Gather your belongings, allowed materials, clipboard, and scratch paper.
  • At check-out, return the scratch paper clipboard and scratch paper as well as any approved notes that were brought in (no notes are allowed to leave a testing center location, even for multiple attempt assessments).
  • Check-out at the check-out station.
