Hiring Process

All new student employees are hired for the current semester only. Current employees in good standing are eligible to be rehired for the next semester if they’re enrolled as an undergraduate at ISU, continue to meet the availability requirements of the Testing Center, and ended the previous semester with a satisfactory work history.

Work Availabitity

All new Testing Center student employees must work a minimum of 5 hours per week. Student employees can work up to 20 hours per week in all of their ISU jobs combined. All new employees will be responsible for selecting their own shifts. Shifts may be selected from a board of available/open shifts and you may pick up another employee’s dropped shifts. Careful planning and scheduling are important for success in the student proctor position.

Acceptable Identification

In the event that you are offered a position, and this is your first job with Iowa State University, you will be required to prove that you are eligible to work for Iowa State University by presenting certain unexpired, original identification documents.

Please review our list of acceptable documents of identification.

Note that if you do not have a document from List A, you will need to present a document from List B AND List C. Photocopies will not be accepted.
Documentation must be taken to the Human Resources office in Beardshear Hall for validation before you can begin working.

Acceptable Identification will you present to the University Human Resources office if you are hired.
